Preventing Relapse
A relapse begins BEFORE the substance is used. There are many signs that indicate a relapse might be just around the corner

- Missing meetings and aftercare
- Blaming other people
- Dreaming of "the good old days"
- Visiting taverns and bars
- Being uncommunicative
- Not taking action
- Keeping a stash just in case
- Thinking "I can handle it on my own"
- Dwelling on mistakes
- Holding on to resentments
- Keeping secrets
- Lying about activities
- Hanging out with drug using friends
- Thinking you are cured
- Quitting therapy
- Missing appointments
- Stopping medications
- Getting too hungry
- Excess anger
- Isolated/feeling lonely
- Being too tired
- Quit reading recovery literature
- Worrying too much about the future
